Jupiter Agent Rob Thomson Sells Homes And Boats

Jupiter-based real estate broker Rob Thomson is positioning his firm to be a one-stop shop for waterfront home buyers who are also looking to purchase a luxury yacht to fill the docks behind their new property.

Thomson has opened a yacht brokerage in the same building that headquarters his real estate firm, Waterfront Properties and Club Communities, which specializes in waterfront properties from Miami to Stuart. The sister companies also share the same website portal and marketing team.

“Basically for 40 years we have been selling people houses on the water and we have been sending them to someone else to go buy a boat,” Thomson said. “We decided to make the logical step and open a kind of boutique, private banking-type service for yachts.”

Thomson co-founded Waterfront Yacht Brokerage with Joe Kelly, a local boat captain, and his long-time friend. Thomson’s 80 real estate agents routinely send the yacht brokerage referrals from clients looking to buy a boat to go with their new home — a networking tool that Thomson says gives the two companies an advantage over other firms.

And when clients want to move, the sister companies can help them sell both their home and their boat.

The yacht brokerage is also set up to help clients with insurance and financing, Thomson adds.

The website for Thomson’s real estate firm receives as many as 100,000 views a month. By using the same web portal and marketing team, those real estate clients will also be to find yachts and other vessels that are on the market.
